What is the DGfE Energy Seal?
The DGfE Energy Seal is a voluntary digital award for German companies that have demonstrably implemented simple, measurable energy efficiency measures. The aim is transparent evidence of the savings measures, without costly audits or external assessors.

The process is deliberately lean: provide evidence of your measures, have them checked digitally and receive the official Energy Seal of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Energie (DGfE).

To receive the DGfE Energy Seal, companies must meet the following minimum requirements.

Name a person responsible for energy
Give us a central point of contact with name, role and email address. That keeps the lines of communication short and every discussion transparent and quick.

Sign an energy policy
With the one-page DGfE template your company commits to the continuous improvement of energy efficiency. That creates clarity internally and is a solid basis for funding and implementation.

Record your energy consumption
We need your electricity and heat consumption for the last 12 months, ideally as a rough estimate or from your bills. On that data basis we identify realistic potential.

Provide evidence of at least three quick wins
Upload photos, invoices, screenshots or a short description of already implemented energy efficiency measures . These “low-hanging fruits” show that the first steps have been taken and speed up the process.

Document a simple key figure
Define a clear performance indicator, for example electricity consumption per employee, per m² or total annual consumption. It makes progress measurable and simplifies later monitoring.

Set a small energy target
Formulate a specific, achievable target, for example: “We will cut electricity consumption per employee by 2% over the next year.” That keeps the focus clear and makes results visible.

If one item is not sufficient, we tell you what is missing before issue. If details are incomplete or incorrect, the seal is revoked.

PCs, printers & co. switch after a period of inactivity into power-saving mode. That reduces the base load without disrupting the flow of work.
Heating and cooling limits defined
Clear set points (e.g. 20-22 °C) and schedules deliver comfortable temperatures with minimal energy input.
Standby losses reduced
Power strips or switchable sockets disconnect devices from the mains after work. This means that idle consumption is avoided.
Read the electricity meter monthly
Regular meter readings create transparency. Trends become visible and savings potential is spotted sooner.
